Genuine SKF β€’ Hybrid-Ceramic Upgrade

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ FREE Shipping within the USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Rebuild your Tesla Large Drive Unit once, and do it right. This is the OEM+ kit: an all-SKF bearing set, with the high-speed rotor and input-shaft assembly now fully hybrid-ceramic and electrically isolated at every bearing. Eight SKF bearings, a rotor oil seal, both output axle seals, and a seal & gasket set: everything the rotating internals need, sourced from the same bearing supplier Tesla uses.

FITMENT

Fits the Tesla Large Drive Unit (rear induction motor):

  • Tesla Model S / Model X, 2012-2021 (RWD and Performance rear motor)

  • Toyota RAV4 EV, 2012-2014

  • Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive / B250e, 2014-2017

THE UPGRADE THAT MATTERS: A FULLY ISOLATED HIGH-SPEED ASSEMBLY

Tesla's own engineers learned that current from the rotor will arc across the steel bearings and micro-weld the raceways. Early LDUs even shipped with a shaft-grounding ring to fight it. Their fix was hybrid-ceramic rotor bearings, whose silicon nitride (Si₃Nβ‚„) balls don't conduct electricity.

Tesla stopped at the rotor. This kit doesn't.

We keep the factory hybrid-ceramic rotor bearings and upgrade the two input-shaft bearings (steel from the factory) to hybrid-ceramic as well. That makes all four bearings on the high-speed axis non-conductive, so the entire rotor-and-input-shaft assembly is electrically isolated at its bearings. No discharge path means no electrical fluting, no arc-pitting, and dramatically longer life on the parts that spin hardest.

WHY HYBRID-CERAMIC, BEYOND ISOLATION

At up to 18,000+ rpm, the high-speed assembly is where bearing choice counts most:

  • Lighter. Silicon nitride balls are roughly 60% lighter than steel, reducing centrifugal load on the outer race at redline: less heat, less skidding, greater durability at sustained speed.

  • Lower friction and drag. Smoother, harder ceramic elements reduce rolling friction and parasitic drag.

  • Cooler and harder. Ceramic runs cooler and resists wear far better than steel under the same load.

  • High-speed cage. The upgraded bearings use SKF's glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide (Nylon) cage, lightweight and purpose-built for high-rpm service.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

8 × genuine SKF bearings

Rotor (hybrid-ceramic, factory spec)

  • 2 × SKF 6007-2RZTN9/HC5C3WT

Input shaft (upgraded to hybrid-ceramic, polyamide cage)

  • 1 × SKF 6208 TN9/HC5C3

  • 1 × SKF 6207 TN9/HC5C3

Countershaft (OEM-grade steel, C3)

  • 1 × SKF NU 2207 ECP/C3 (cylindrical roller)

  • 1 × SKF 6308/C3

Differential (OEM-grade steel, C3)

  • 1 × SKF 6310/C3

  • 1 × SKF 6309/C3

Seals and O-rings

  • 1 × Rotor oil seal

  • 2 × Output axle seals (P/N 1065932-00-A)

  • 1 × Comprehensive seal & gasket set

    • 19 x O-rings

    • 3 x Case/frame gaskets

    • 3 x Square inverter gaskets

    • 1 x Toric cord

The hybrid-ceramic SKF bearings are specialty parts, and they're heavily counterfeited online. Every bearing in this kit is genuine SKF, with authenticity confirmed directly by SKF. Don't trust your 18,000-rpm rotor to a cheap fake.

Why not ceramic everywhere? Electrical fluting and centrifugal stress are problems of speed. We concentrate hybrid-ceramic where it earns its keep, on the high-speed rotor and input shaft, and fit genuine OEM-grade SKF steel on the slower countershaft and differential, where ceramic adds cost without benefit. Every bearing in the kit is full SKF.

WHAT THIS KIT IS, AND ISN'T

This is a complete bearing, seal, and O-ring set for an LDU rebuild. It does not include gears, the housing, drive fluid, or tools. Bearing replacement requires a press and the correct pullers, sockets, and, ideally, an induction bearing heater. This is a job for an experienced DIY builder or a shop.

Planning a rebuild? The most common reason an LDU dies is the internal rotor coolant channel leaking coolant into the motor. If you're already in this deep, address it now and add a Coolant Delete option below.
