Reverse the rotation of a Tesla Small Drive Unit the clean way. No cutting, splicing, or modified OEM cables.
Swapping any two phases on a three-phase motor inverts its direction of rotation. For SDUs mounted in reverse orientation and running a Dynam Labs VCU or EV Controls T-2C with the OEM inverter logic board, this is a required modification: both systems retain the OEM Tesla logic board, which enforces a speed limit in "reverse." Swapping phases makes reverse become forward and forward become reverse, eliminating the speed limit in your new forward direction while keeping Tesla's factory hardware and motor control intact.
How it works
Tesla's OEM phase connections are flexible cables with tin-plated copper tabs welded to the ends, held in position by a plastic bracket so the tab holes align with the stator phase connections when the inverter is installed. The problem is that those OEM tabs can't simply be repositioned to swap phases because the cables aren’t long enough.
Our Phase Swap Busbar Tabs solve this. Remove two OEM tabs from the bracket, insert the new busbar tabs in their place, and cross the two cables underneath the bracket to connect them to the new tabs. Each busbar tab features an integrated PEM nut. Installation requires just a screw and washer, with no loose nut to fumble with or drop into the inverter.
Built to OEM spec
The tabs are laser-cut from pure copper with the same cross-sectional area as the OEM tabs, then tin-plated. Identical current-carrying capacity, identical contact interface. Matching the OEM material and plating eliminates any risk of galvanic corrosion at the joint and ensures full compatibility with the factory connection hardware.
Includes: 2 busbar tabs and mounting hardware
Fits: Tesla Front and Rear Small Drive Units (SDU)
Important: A phase swap alone is not a complete reverse-rotation conversion. The SDU's oil pump must also be modified to operate in reverse to maintain proper cooling and lubrication. Pair these tabs with the corresponding Oil Pump Reverse Kit to complete the job.
